Confiction Labs: The Next Generation of Gaming Entertainment

Confiction Labs, formerly known as Mythic Protocol, is a software and entertainment company leading a new modality of media called Collaborative Entertainment, which involves users in the creation process of immersive digital experiences. We develop platforms, IPs and games such as Riftstorm, designed from the ground up to scale and evolve collaboratively.

The game industry has evolved through a series of compounding industry cycles, driven by new technological advancements. These advancements help define the trajectory of the gaming space by introducing new technologies and audiences, empowering exponential growth that has eclipsed all other entertainment industry sectors combined. Since the widespread adoption of live service games and free-to-play games began in 2010, driven by the improvement of internet technology and mobile computing, the value of the gaming industry has grown to US$242 billion by 2023.

Confiction Labs sees Collaborative Entertainment as the next cycle, driven by advancements in artificial intelligence and the power of distributed computing. In this new phase, players and audiences become part of the economy as contributors. The potential for the gaming market means that it could hit five times its current value at the minimum.

“As gamers who’ve seen all these transformations in the gaming industry over the years, we’re at the precipice of a new revolution where gaming is driven by Collaborative Entertainment,” said Confiction Labs CEO Arief Widhiyasa. “Confiction Labs is a passionate and diverse team that has the goal of delivering games that people want and experiences they have not seen before. Collaborative Entertainment gives players the opportunity to become a part of the story and the economy. Riftstorm is the start, and we’re eager to see how things evolve from here.”

The Confiction Labs Ecosystem

Riftstorm

Riftstorm is a multiplayer co-op looter shooter action RPG with roguelite elements. Up to four players fight cosmic horrors and upgrade their characters, working together and testing their skills against the game’s numerous challenges. It is currently in development for PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox, Switch, and mobile. Riftstorm is the first game in Rift Realm, with two more titles in the same universe in development.

The Repository

The Repository is the Rift Realm’s content database, which contains the story elements that make up Riftstorm and the other games in this universe. This includes the primary lore components used by the games and other media, formatted into Characters, Mythics, and Stories that can be contributed by players and submitted as user-generated content (UGC). The Repository acts as storage and reference points that the ConFict Data Layer (CDL) protocol engages when organizing game-related content.

FICT ZERO

FICT ZERO is an invite-only genesis NFT providing holders the ability to produce and benefit from franchising any Confiction Labs IP. The asset is designed as a way to strategically onboard key contributors to the ecosystem while providing incentives as they stake the asset for the long term. The only way for any individual or organization to create a derivative business within the Confiction Labs ecosystem is to hold ZERO first. The total supply of ZERO is 888, with 333 set to be released in 2024 and the rest distributed in the following years.

The Power of Collaborative Entertainment

Collaborative Entertainment innovates the creation of digital media by integrating user-generated content. It cultivates a dynamic ecosystem where communities have a lasting effect on the worlds they immerse themselves in. Each community member has an opportunity to contribute to the stories within any IP in the Confiction Labs ecosystem.

Through Collaborative Entertainment, players of Riftstorm can help shape the universe of the game and the narrative happening inside it through UGC. As they send in content submissions, a protocol called the ConFict Data Layer (CDL) organizes them, and a dedicated team reviews each piece of content. Approved submissions may become part of a future update, moving the story and lore of a universe forward. If chosen, the contributor receives rewards in the form of tokens or other incentives.

Player actions are also recorded in the CDL, such as the collective actions in Flashpoint events, where successes and failures determine the future of the game. These narrative arcs present players with key decisions that affect the world around them and become a part of the game’s history.

As players engage in the game by participating in events or submitting their content, their contribution molds the universe. A player can write a story, create artwork, or submit a video, and it is all recorded in the Repository. If the lore team decides that a submission meets the criteria to become canon, it is included in an official publication or even a future game update. These additions can inspire other players to contribute, and the cycle repeats itself.

Collaborative Entertainment engages communities of players, readers, artists, storytellers and fans, and it enables them to make a direct impact on the digital worlds they inhabit. Their stories, videos and art all become part of a larger, living and breathing story. No more waiting for the next chapter. They can write the stories themselves and contribute while getting rewarded.
